O Gringo joins the Cícero Art Collection in Lisbon with a new Blue One Collection artwork

A new work by contemporary artist O Gringo, created as part of his Blue One Collection and inspired by chef Alessandra Montagne, has joined the art collection of Cícero in Lisbon, selected by collector Paulo Dalla Nora Macêdo.
On September 16, 2026, art and gastronomy came together at Cícero, in Lisbon's Chiado district, for a special evening bringing together contemporary artist O Gringo, Brazilian chef Alessandra Montagne, executive chef Felipe Neves, collector Paulo Dalla Nora Macêdo, and guests from the worlds of art, culture, gastronomy and media.
At the centre of the evening was the presentation of a new artwork by O Gringo — Bastien Tomasini, created within his Blue One Collection and inspired by Alessandra Montagne.
The work now becomes part of the art collection presented at Cícero, a space where gastronomy and visual art have been connected from the beginning. The restaurant's collection has been assembled over more than two decades by collector and Cícero founder Paulo Dalla Nora Macêdo, with Brazilian modernist artist Cícero Dias as one of its central references.
O Gringo and Alessandra Montagne: a dialogue between two creative languages
The encounter with Alessandra Montagne gave O Gringo the starting point for a work in which two creative worlds meet.
Montagne is the Creative Director of Cícero's kitchen and works alongside executive chef Felipe Neves. Her cuisine brings together Brazilian references, French technique and Portuguese ingredients. Shortly before returning to Lisbon, she had taken her cuisine to the Louvre Museum in Paris, through a project developed in collaboration with Alain Ducasse.
For O Gringo, the portrait becomes another chapter of the Blue One Collection, a body of work in which cobalt blue, cultural encounters, memory and movement between different geographies form part of the artist's visual research.
The result is not simply a portrait of a chef. It is an encounter between two forms of creation: one expressed through image and material, the other through cuisine.
A new work enters the Cícero collection
The presentation took place during the special dinner created by Alessandra Montagne and Felipe Neves, with O Gringo attending the evening in Lisbon.
Surrounded by the works that form Paulo Dalla Nora Macêdo's collection, the new piece was presented in the environment for which it had been conceived.
Its presence at Cícero also establishes a new connection between O Gringo's contemporary practice and a collection in which art is not treated simply as decoration, but as part of the identity and experience of the space.
The work will remain at Cícero as part of its art collection. Its arrival has already been documented beyond the artist's own channels: Time Out Lisboa announced its presentation and incorporation into the collection, while other Portuguese publications covered the encounter between O Gringo, Alessandra Montagne and Cícero.
The Blue One Collection forms part of O Gringo's continuing research into blue, particularly cobalt blue, and the journeys of materials, images and cultural influences across different civilizations.
Through his Hybrid Mixed Media practice, the artist combines materials including ceramic, azulejo, Fine Art paper, photography, painting, stone, wood and resin, transforming historical references into contemporary compositions.
With this new work in Lisbon, that journey acquires another story and another destination:
O Gringo. Alessandra Montagne. Paulo Dalla Nora Macêdo. Cícero. Lisbon.
